SERVICES

I offer a variety of therapeutic approaches, integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Narrative Therapy, and Attachment theory.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is an extensive and evidence-based therapeutic approach utilized for a variety of presenting concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, addictions, eating disorders, and many more. The main idea of CBT is that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are all intertwined, and that by restructuring our thoughts, we can then make changes to the entire system. I have received training in CBT and it is one of the main modalities that I use.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a body based form of treatment for a variety of mental health concerns, including but not limited to PTSD, trauma symptoms, grief, depression, and anxiety. In an EMDR session, clients are asked to focus on external stimuli, such as tapping, hand movements, or auditory stimuli, and to simultaneously bring attention to a distressful thought or event, followed by relaxation exercises. The main goal of EMDR is to create new connections in memory associated with the negative events, changing the individual's negative thoughts to more positive or neutral ones.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy is an approach that separates the individual from the problem. Often times when we are experiencing challenges, we internalize them, such as saying "I am depressed" as opposed to "I am experiencing depression." This can feel very disempowering and can lead to feelings of hopelessness. Narrative therapy seeks to empower individuals by externalizing the challenge and highlighting values and skills that the individual possesses.

Attachment Theory

Attachment theory seeks to explain how we came to internalize certain messages, and how we learned to relate to those around us. I utilize this approach to help individuals identify and understand the root of their core negative beliefs.
