FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What can I expect from the first session?

First sessions can be a tad nerve racking; I understand that the process of meeting a stranger and opening up to them is not an easy task, and as a therapist, it is my job to help you feel comfortable and safe. Our first session will consist of going through informed consent, and then completing a structured intake process where I will ask a series of questions to better understand you and your circumstances, and overall orient you to the therapy process. If required, you and the therapist will go over scaled fees. Collaboratively, you and I will set goals, and narrow down specific areas to work on first. Of course, every first session is different for each client, but the goal is that when you leave the session, you and I will have an idea of the direction that therapy will be heading in. â€‹â€‹â€‹

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

I kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee, except in cases of emergency.

Is everything I share in session confidential?

Yes. Everything shared in session is confidential, with a few important exceptions where I am legally or ethically required to break confidentiality—such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of child abuse or neglect. These limits will be fully discussed in your first session.
